The Middle School exists to provide a transition from elementary to senior high school. The academic curriculum consists of required courses and elective classes. Required courses continue your child's basic education in such fields as Math, Science, Social Studies, and English. The elective courses will be to develop in the students an appreciation for and a basic understanding of the subjects involved. Another objective of the program will be to have the student participate and cooperate in a variety of projects.
We hope that your child will be introduced to some new and exciting areas of interest through both the core courses and the elective program. We hope your children will have more time to pursue their interests through the school's extra-curricular program. Your student is reminded that many interesting and worthwhile experiences are offered through the activities program of the school. Sidney Middle School offers FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK, WRESTLING, VOLLEYBALL, CROSS-COUNTRY, BAND, CHORUS, STUDENT COUNCIL, NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY, FCCLA, QUIZ BOWL and SPIRIT CLUB. Each student should plan a well-rounded program including some extra-curricular work, although one not too heavily laden with activities. Also, many out of school activities are sponsored by the various organizations within the community, which your child should find enjoyable. We are looking forward to working with you and your child.
