Below I have listed a brief description of each of the courses offered in my classroom. |
![]() English 12: This is a year long course designed to provide seniors with numerous opportunities to further develop and practice effective communication skills such as thinking, listening, speaking, reading and writing. College Composition: This is a one semester course which may be taken for both high school and college credit. Students who take this course must have at least a 3.0 academic grade point average or a minimum score of 20 on the English section of the ACT. This course offers instruction in the writing of well-organized, informal essays and the critical thinking that precedes such writing. When necessary, the principles of grammar will be reviewed. The course will give students intensive practice in writing analytical and personal essays, emphasizing clarity, conciseness and critical insight. The course requires extensive reading and writing outside of class. Students may take this class for dual credit through Nebraska Wesleyan University. The cost is the responsibility of the student. |
![]() British Literature: This is a rigorous one semester course designed to meet the needs of students going on to colleges and universities. The students who take this course must have at least a 3.0 academic grade point average or a minimum score of 20 on the English section of the ACT. The course uses a historical/humanities approach to the study of British Literature (Anglo-Saxon period through the 18th Century) as a basis for composition and discussion. Students may take this class for dual credit through Nebraska Wesleyan University. The cost is the responsibility of the student. |
