Topics Include:

  • Money Records
  • Calculating Pay, Fringe Benefits & Commission
  • Budgeting & Buying

Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry:  This course is designed to guide students from algebraic topics to the intricacies of Calculus.  The main objective of Pre-Calc/Trig are to strengthen the student's understanding of real world mathematics, to explore and understand graphing and appropriate technology, and to make the students mathematically literate.

The five basic units addresses in in this course are:

  • Relations, Functions and their Graphs
  • Trigonometry
  • Advanced Functions
  • Discrete math
  • Introduction to Calculus

Pre-Calc/Trig is recommended for all college bound students. The prerequisites for this class are Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.  There will be approximately 3-4 hours of homework each week.

Calculus:  The goal of Calculus is to provide students with a clear understanding of the ideas of Calculus as a foundation for subsequent courses in mathematics and other disciplines. This course is recommended for college bound students, especially those who are planning on working towards a degree in math science, physics or engineering.  The prerequisites for this course are Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and Pre-Calc/Trig.  There will be approximately 3-4 hours of homework each week.

Algebra 1: In this course students will explore the language of Algebra in verbal, graphical and symbolic forms. Problem solving activities and applications encourage students to model patterns and relationships with variables and functions. The course will integrate with other areas of math, use applications and connect to other topics they are studying. Some of the topics covered in this course are simplifying expressions, polynomials, exponents and radicals, solving equations, systems of equations and quadratics, and graphing solutions to equations and inequalities.
